IT Compliance
Technical controls, implemented and evidenced.
What we do, and what we do not claim
Caltrop Defense Group helps organisations implement, document, monitor and maintain the technical controls that frameworks such as CMMC, HIPAA and HITECH, or PCI DSS expect. We work alongside your compliance officer, legal counsel, auditor or assessor.
We are not an assessor or a certifying body, and no work described here should be read as certification, legal advice, or an assurance that any specific audit or attestation outcome will be achieved. Where a framework requires an independent assessment, that assessment must come from a qualified independent party.
Scope
Where technical work meets a framework
Most frameworks ask similar things of your technology: control who has access, protect and monitor systems, keep data recoverable, manage change, and be able to show that all of this is real. We build those controls, keep them running, and keep the evidence in a form an assessor will accept.
Control mapping
Your current technical state mapped against the control families your framework uses, with the gaps written down.
Account and privilege evidence
Account provisioning, multi-factor, privileged access and review records maintained as ongoing evidence.
Logging and monitoring
Log collection and retention configured to meet the requirement rather than the default.
Availability and recovery
Backup, retention and tested restoration aligned to the recovery expectations in your framework.
Policy and procedure support
Technical policies drafted or reviewed so what is written matches what is configured.
Audit preparation
Evidence packaged ahead of an assessment, and technical questions answered during it.
What you get
What changes when it compliance is handled well
- A clear, current view of which technical controls are in place and which are not.
- Evidence collected continuously rather than reconstructed the week before an audit.
- Fewer surprises when a client security questionnaire arrives.
- Technical remediation planned with realistic effort and cost.
A practical note on it compliance
Compliance and security overlap but are not the same. A framework can be satisfied while a real weakness remains, and a well-secured environment can still fail on documentation. We aim at both and are explicit about which one a given task serves.
How we deliver it
How we deliver it compliance
Understand the obligation
Which framework applies, who requires it, what scope it covers and by when.
Map and prioritise
Current state against the control set, with gaps ordered by risk and effort.
Implement and evidence
Controls deployed, documented and kept current, with evidence produced as a by-product of running them.
