Vulnerability Management

A working list of what is weak, and what is being done about it.

Scanning is easy; finishing the work is not

Any tool can produce a thousand-line vulnerability report. The difficulty is deciding which findings matter in your environment, getting them fixed without breaking production, and proving afterwards that they are actually closed.

We treat vulnerability management as a cycle with an owner and a date against every item, not as a report that arrives quarterly and is filed.

Scope

How the cycle runs

We scan internal and external systems, remove false positives, rank findings by exploitability and business impact rather than by raw severity score, schedule remediation with change control, and re-scan to confirm the fix. Anything that cannot be fixed gets a documented compensating control instead of being ignored.

Discovery and scanning

Regular authenticated scanning of servers, workstations and internet-facing services.

Prioritisation

Findings ranked by what is genuinely reachable and valuable in your environment.

Patch and configuration fixes

Remediation delivered through the same managed tooling that runs your estate.

Verification

Re-scanning to confirm closure, because "patch deployed" and "patch applied" are not the same thing.

Exception handling

Documented compensating controls and review dates where a fix is not currently possible.

Reporting

Trend reporting that shows whether exposure is going down over time.

What you get

What changes when vulnerability management is handled well

  • A shrinking, owned list of known weaknesses instead of an unread report.
  • Remediation that fits around your operational calendar.
  • Confirmed closure rather than assumed closure.
  • Evidence of a repeatable process for auditors and insurers.

A practical note on vulnerability management

Some findings live in systems that cannot be patched: a medical device, an old line-of-business application, a machine controller. Those need isolation and monitoring, and an honest conversation about replacement timelines.

How we deliver it

How we deliver vulnerability management

Establish scope

Agree what is in scope, how often it is scanned, and who signs off remediation windows.

Work the backlog

Highest-value issues first, in scheduled batches, with rollback planned.

Keep it running

Scanning, triage, remediation and verification continue on the agreed cycle.

Next step

Start with a conversation about what you actually have

Tell us what your environment looks like, what worries you, and what has been deferred. We will tell you what we would do first and what it would involve, before anyone signs anything.
